About Us

Waterfront House was completed in 1999 and has a modern and airy atmosphere that makes it a well liked holiday accommodation by all who come, a few having now been for their tenth visit since we opened for business in 2002. We, the proprietors Marie and Alex, personally ensure that the house is made ready for each new set of guests and in this way ensure a good standard of cleanliness and order to the property and we have many testimonials to the satisfaction of those who visit. Someone called it "this wonderful house"

The street name, Sir Christopher Court, was selected in honour of Sir Christopher Cockerel who developed the modern day hovercraft on this site, and there is a monument on the site to the development and research work done here during the 60s and 70s of the last century and the house where he lived still stands at the other end of the village. Hovercraft still exercise their right to come onto the hard standing in front of one part of the beach, turn off the engine, wait a few minute and then go back to sea. If you come to waterfront house you might just be fortunate to see one of these machines close up. That of course is not all you will see; the oyster catchers; the great liners; the tall ships; and the boats of yesteryere like the Shieldhall and the Waverley, but come and see for yourself and more besides.

Bookings are taken for periods of up to 3 weeks during the months of February through to the end of October. For the remaining months we generally close for maintenance and renewal. Short breaks can be arranged during February, March and April depending on availability, either as 3 nights at weekend or 4 nights midweek. Otherwise we operate on a weekly basis (Saturday to Saturday).
